Biography

Raha Moussavi, Ph.D. is a Senior Associate Researcher/Learning Sciences Designer with the Center for Certification and Competency-Based Education. She has experience designing and developing curriculum and assessments for a variety of programs and projects, including game-based assessment systems, intelligent tutoring systems, and competency-based education programs, including a teacher education program at the High Meadows Graduate School in collaboration with MIT. She also has experience in higher education as a science educator and a teacher educator.

As a learning scientist by training, she focuses on incorporating principles of learning sciences and user centered design into her work.  More recently, she has designed competency-based assessments and learning materials for the redesign of a Volunteer Fire Officer course in collaboration with the Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute and coached educators on design projects within the context of a micro-credential program in Designing for Equity, Justice, and Innovation in Education. She is also currently collaborating on the design of assessments of relational competencies for family support professionals. She earned an A.M in Chemistry from Brown University and received her Ph.D. in Learning Sciences & Technologies from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA.
